Arranging Bottled GasMoving home and the need for bottled gasBottled gas (Liquefied Petroleum Gas – LPG) enables consumers who live in areas where natural gas pipes can't reach, to enjoy the benefits of gas.Over 1 million Australian homes use bottled gas to cook with, and to fire their hot water and heating appliances. LPG gas is stored in a cylinder(s) outside the house. These cylinders are either filled up by a delivery truck where they are, or are swapped over with filled cylinders. LPG piping inside a house must comply with the Gas Installation Code and must be installed by a licensed gas fitter. If you're moving into a brand new house, you'll need a gas compliance certificate in order to place an order for bottled gas. If you're renting - you'll need to ask the owner of the property for your compliance certificate. Without this certificate - the bottled gas providers will not arrange for delivery. If your new property requires bottled gas - make sure you make some enquiries before you move in - the prior occupants might have left the bottle empty!
