When you need to connect your gas
In Australia your gas will often be on at your new property when you move in, however, there are instances where the gas has been disconnected.
Therefore, you are best to get on to the task of connecting your gas by allowing at least 3 business days before you move in to make the request.
If your property is a new home, the gas can take up to 20 days to get connected so make sure you check with your builder that the gas meter is
installed or will be installed by the time you move in.
How to connect your gas
You can either spend your time trying to find a reputable provider, calling around, and waiting on hold, or connectnow
can take the leg work out by connecting your gas on your behalf. We're a free service, we provide you with a choice of providers (where possible)
and we can arrange other services for you at the same time.
All you need to do is - enter your postcode into our online moving home tool. We will provide you with several of the main gas provider(s) in
your area. From there you can choose the supplier and plan that you like, provide us with some basic details - and we will arrange the
connection for you. We are used to dealing with many of the major Australian gas suppliers and will ensure that the gas account is changed into
your name and you won't be charged for the previous resident's gas usage!
The connections process - how it works
Firstly we check when you need your gas connected. Connections must occur on a weekday as gas companies may not operate on weekends.
Then we make sure we have all the necessary details for your new home such as your new street address, and the location of your gas meter.
Occasionally we might ask you for your MIRN which is a unique number written on the gas meter at your new property.
We then organise your connection with your chosen gas provider.
