Connecting your internet

connectnow can help you to choose the right internet product for you, and provide broad guidance on the type of service available in the area of your new home.

Available products

connectnow can arrange the following internet services:
  • ADSL & ADSL 2+ broadband
There are lots of ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) plans available to consumers and these have traditionally been the most popular because they rely on a fixed-line supply through the existing local copper-wire phone network.

A variation on ADSL comes in the shape of ADSL2+. This has largely been thanks to the technological advancements that have been happening throughout Australia in recent years & requires the local phone exchange to be suitably equipped. The benefit of ADSL2+ is that it can often deliver much better speeds than standard ADSL and is considered a viable alternative if cable is not available in your area.

Naked DSL is essentially the same thing as ADSL but minus a home telephone connection. Internet Service Providers who offer DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) services allow consumers to make use of VoIP (Voice operated Internet Protocol) services to make calls (often for free) via their Naked DSL internet connection. Naked DSL services aren't available everywhere, but usually if you can get ADSL2+ then it's entirely possible you may also be able to tap into Naked DSL too.
  • Cable broadband
Cable broadband modems use Hybrid-Fibre-Coaxial cables (the same cables that PAY TV services use) to reach your home. The appeal of cable broadband is enhanced by the fact this much of this network utilizes fibre-optic cabling and this regularly provides a noticeably faster connection speed than going down the traditional ADSL route. Cable can also offer a better speed than the best ADSL2+ broadband service that is seen as the beefier brother of traditional ADSL. The downside is that cable is not as widely available as ADSL, but geographical coverage is expanding all the time.
  • Wireless broadband
Wireless broadband allows you to hook up to online services using a small plug-in device that can be attached to your computer via a USB slot. Mobile broadband has therefore become a realistic alternative to fixed-line and cable services allowing internet on-the-go, as well as access for people in remote and rural areas. Better mobile networks that offer greater coverage and highly competitive pricing plans has meant that mobile broadband has become accessible for lots of Australians, however, the downside is that speeds can be less impressive.
  • Relocating your existing Telstra or iiNet internet connection
If you're an existing Telstra or BigPond customer it's easy to move your services to your new home. You'll need to request this at least a week before your move. Just let one of connectnow's moving experts know and we'll ensure your services get connected and are up and running at your new home. When arranging a Telstra relocatation - it's always handy to have your Telstra/BigPond and/or FOXTEL from Telstra Account Number(s) (on your recent bill) handy.
