Connecting your home phone

A home phone is still required for ADSL broadband internet access or if you have a fax machine or monitored home alarm system. Plus - a home phone is handy if you make (or receive) interstate or international calls.
When & how

When you need to connect your phone

As with most essential services, it is always best to give your phone provider plenty of time to connect your phone line. We advise people to notify their telephone provider at least 5 business days prior to moving.

How to connect your phone

You can either spend your time calling around, and waiting on hold, or connectnow can take the leg work out by connecting your home phone on your behalf. We're a free service, and we can arrange other services for you at the same time.

All you need to do is enter the postcode of your new address into our online moving home tool, choose the plan you would like, provide some basic details - and we will connect it up for you.

connectnow can arrange the following home phone related services:
  • Home phone (Landline) connections
  • Voice over internet (VoIP) options

The connections process - how it works

When we receive your request they will establish if the property has an active phone line, or if no active phone line has been installed.

From there:
  • Properties with an active line installed
    If a phone has been connected previously, we can usually arrange for your phone to be connected within 48 hours.
  • Properties without an active line installed
    If the property you're moving into hasn't had a phone connected recently, we may need to arrange an appointment for a Telstra technician to visit the property. This can take 3-5 working days for your phone to be connected.
  • New Homes - no active line installed
    If you're moving into a newly built home you will need to ensure that your electrician or builder has arranged for the required infrastructure to be installed to the property. Once this has been done then we can connect all of your required services.
